Friends and coworkers of a woman dragged to death two weeks ago, gathered at a funeral Mass today before her body is flown to her home state in Mexico.
The Mass at St. Andrew Avelino Seminary, was held to honor the life of Luz Maria Franco Fierros, who was killed Sept. 18 after being dragged behind a car for more than a mile in the Surrey Ridge subdivision in Douglas County.
"I feel very satisfied (about the Mass)," said Cesar Gustavo Garcia Flores, 20, a close friend of Fierros.
"She was here for only a short while (in the Denver area) but she made a lot of friends and they are suffering just as much as we are."
Flores said he has known the woman since he was 2, and he refers to her as his "aunt."
He is the closest person to Fierros living in the state.
He said that Fierros' body will be flown to Guerro, Mexico, tomorrow.
Jose Luis Rubi-Nava, 36, Fierros' live-in boyfriend, was charged this week with first-degree murder in her death.
