A 20-year-old Littleton woman was sentenced to 45 days in jail, three years probation, 120 hours of community service and counseling for having a friend drown two cats in October 2005.
Delene Madison Hart was convicted today of aggravated animal cruelty, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and negligent child abuse by a Jefferson County jury.
Hart was arrested after instructing a family friend, Kyle Bundy, 19, to drown her two cats that she said repeatedly soiled the house. Two of Harts young children were present when the cats died.
Bundy pleaded guilty to misdemeanor cruelty to animals in November. He was sentenced to a years probation with a mental health evaluation, 24 hours of community service, fees and court costs.
Harts sentence includes a provision that her community service be performed at an animal shelter if any facility is willing to accept her.
She could have taken the unwanted cats to the Dumb Friends
League for free.
