The search for the body of Shay Smith, 2, in Carter Lake is literally crawling along.
Larimer County Sheriffs spokeswoman Eloise Campanella said today that divers are working in 130 feet of water and it is so murky visibility is approximately one foot in front of the divers' masks and any searching must be done by touch.
The boy was in a boat with his father, another adult and a 3-year-old when he fell overboard three weeks ago.
Using an underwater camera, the searchers are continuing a grid process, continually moving markers closer and closer to each targeted area.
Campanella said once they feel they have pinpointed an area, they drop the camera 130 feet down over that target.
If the camera image shows a high probability of it being Shay, then divers enter the water but at this altitude and the depth of the water, they can only stay down for two to three minutes.
Larimer County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services and Larimer County Dive Rescue are conducting the search.
