BOULDER University of Colorado police are investigating a fire early this morning that caused minor damage to a lab at the CU Engineering Center.
Sprinklers quickly put out the blaze in the chemical engineering wing on the first floor, but three Boulder firefighters were sent to a local hospital for possible smoke inhalation.
Investigators believe the fire began in a fume hood. Damage appears to be limited to furniture and water damage.
The campus environmental health and safety office said no hazardous materials were released into the air.
The fire department was called to the scene at about 2:17 a.m. today.
The engineering center re-opened at 8 a.m. today.
