The state Department of Education on Tuesday released CSAP reading scores for third-graders. Statewide, scores this year dropped 1 percentage point. Scores dropped 3 percentage points last year.
Education Commissioner William Moloney, last year described the information as "not particularly meaningful." Moloney this year said: "This is not of profound significance." 6A
BOOK STUNNER
Sen. Steve Johnson, R-Fort Collins, was stunned to learn that GOP Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo has written a book railing against illegal immigration.
"Oh my God! He's written a book. It's like Mein Kampf against illegal immigration," said Johnson, referring to the book by German Nazi leader Adolph Hitler.
"I know I'm going to get black roses from Tancredo for my comment," Johnson added.

Emmalee Mason, above, a 12-year-old from Colorado Springs is the honorary two-billionth guest to visit a Disney Park, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced Tuesday.
Emmalee and her family were awarded lifetime passes to the 11 Disney Parks worldwide.
The young girl's response?
"Wow! I'm in shock . . . I'm so happy! This kind of stuff never happens to me!"
