A business consortium that was thrust into the limelight this year after a lawmaker filed an ethics complaint against its director is under new management.
Colorado Concern announced that Walt Isenberg, president and CEO of Sage Hospitality, will be the new chairman effective Oct. 1. He replaces developer Rick Sapkin.
The new executive director, Janice Sinden, who has been a consultant for the group, will become the new executive director. She replaces William Mutch, who was placed on leave after the complaint was filed in March.
"I think Walt is going to be great," Sinden said Monday. "Walt's a Democrat, a pro-business Democrat, and that brings a whole new dynamic to the group."
Colorado Concern, which is comprised of more than 100 top chief executive officers statewide, for 25 years has quietly provided leadership on issues ranging from business growth to the state's economy.
Group members were stunned to see the organization in the news this year for its controversial efforts to kill a bill that would have provided additional protections for home buyers.
Colorado Concern helped arrange automated "Robocalls" that went out to seniors in certain Democratic lawmakers' districts. The voters were told they could lose their homes if the bill passed.
