SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Mike Weir won for the first time since early in the 2004 season, shooting a 2-under-par 68 on Sunday for a one-shot victory over Mark Hensby in the Fry's Electronics Open.

Weir secured the win with a 6-foot par putt after hitting his approach on the par-4 18th into a greenside bunker.

The 2003 Masters champion took the lead with birdie on the par-4 15th, rolling a chip shot to 1 foot, then held off Hensby during the final three holes on a warm, blustery day at Grayhawk Golf Club.

Weir finished at 14-under 266 for his eighth PGA Tour victory and first since the 2004 Nissan Open, a span of 87 starts. Hensby closed with 69.

"Definitely been tough not winning," said Weir, who earned $900,000 to jump from 84th to 33rd on the money list at $1,986,053. "You know, that's what we're all out here to do, and 3 1/2 years has been quite a long time."

Weir secured his long-awaited victory with a 6-foot par putt after hitting his approach on the par-4 18th into a greenside bunker.

"It was gusting across there," he said. "It's pretty open on that green, and my pant legs were whipping pretty good there when I hit that putt. I just told myself to keep my head nice and steady and just try to hit it nice and solid."

Billy Mayfair, a Scottsdale resident who played for Arizona State, shot 68 to finish third at 10 under.

Carl Pettersson, who led after three rounds, and Sean O'Hair tied for fourth at 9 under. Pettersson shot 74, O'Hair had 69.

HANA BANK KOLON CHAMPIONSHIP at Gyeongju, South Korea - Suzann Pettersen won her fourth LPGA Tour event of the year when high wind and unplayable conditions on the putting surfaces forced tournament officials to call off the final round at Mauna Ocean resort.

"I guess it has to kind of sink in that I actually won this tournament," Pettersen said. "Of course, it's not the way I want to win. You want to complete the tournament as it is originally set up, but this time, the last round wasn't playable."

Eun-Hee Ji of South Korea finished one shot back, followed by Seon Hwa Lee and Jeong Jang.

Top-ranked Lorena Ochoa, coming off her seventh victory of the season in the Samsung World Championship, tied for 12th at 3 over after rounds of 72 and 75.

AT&T CHAMPIONSHIP at San Antonio - John Cook won his first Champions Tour title in his second start, closing with a 6-under 65 for a two-shot win over Mark O'Meara.

Cook, an 11-time PGA Tour winner who turned 50 on Oct. 2, began the round two shots behind O'Meara and Tom Kite and was three behind after bogey on the par-4 third hole at Oak Hills Country Club. But Cook birdied the next two holes and added birdies on Nos. 9-11, 15 and 16 to finish at 15-under 198.

"It was not easy out there," Cook said. "Some tricky winds on a good golf course and major championship winners all over the place. Thrilled? I guess I would be thrilled."

ETC.: Ron Whittaker won the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Classic to wrap up a spot next year on the PGA Tour, closing with a 2-under 70 for a one-shot win over David McKenzie in the Nationwide Tour event. Whittaker, a playoff loser last week at the WNB Golf Classic, finished at 17-under 271. . . . Steve Webster of England shot 64 to win the PGA European Tour Portugal Masters in Vilamoura by two shots over Robert Karlsson.
