Give your lawn a checkup
Friday, April 13, 2007
A new service of Colorado State University Cooperative Extension, CSU Lawncheck, is available in several counties this year. The service includes a site visit by a member of the Cooperative Extension horticulture staff and a written report with recommendations for treatment and care of the lawn.
"Lawn problems are the No. 1 concern brought to Cooperative Extension offices in the counties along the Front Range and we believe CSU Lawncheck will allow us to better serve this need," said Carl Wilson, CSU Cooperative Extension horticulturist in Denver.
Initially, CSU Lawncheck will be available in Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, El Paso and Jefferson counties in the Front Range, and in Mesa, Delta, Montrose and Ouray on the Western Slope. Homeowners should call the Cooperative Extension office in their county to make an appointment and then must be onsite to assist in the lawn assessment.
The follow-up written report will have recommendations for improving the lawn and solving insect, disease and other lawn problems. The minimum cost is $75, which includes up to one hour for a site visit and the written report. Mileage costs may apply.
