Congressman Bob Beauprez today unveiled at five-point plan that he says specifies what his administration would accomplish if he wins the race to be Colorados next governor.
"Colorado's future is on the line and we owe it to ourselves to put politics aside, roll up our sleeves, and get things done," Beauprez said in a statement posted on his campaign Web site. "The issues of healthcare, education, water, transportation, and illegal immigration are too important to settle for anything less than specific action plans.
"This is our plan to achieve measurable results on the issues that matter to Coloradans."
Beauprez is calling his plan the Colorado Accountability Pledge.
"This is our signed pledge of an actionable, measurable agenda to the citizens of Colorado," Beauprez said.
Beauprez also announced that tomorrow he will begin airing four new TV ads. "The four ads will articulate Beauprez's Accountability Pledge and will focus on water, education, illegal immigration, and bringing value to government," his Web site says.
Democrat Bill Ritter, who is opposing Beauprez in the Nov. 7 election, on Aug. 24 announced his own pledge "to fulfill his promise to Colorado by setting performance goals, meeting objectives and establishing a public report card to grade his administrations performance."
"Im calling this my Colorado Opportunity Pledge," Ritter said in a press release. "My campaign is about fulfilling the Colorado Promise getting Colorado to live up to its full potential and creating opportunity for all Coloradans.
"By establishing this Colorado Opportunity Pledge, I say to all of Colorado that we can create a better future together. We can set goals, hit our objectives and gauge our performance. We can measure performance successes and short-comings and build a better Colorado."
Among the goals Ritter set for his administration:
- Taking Colorado from the bottom 10 states in terms of child
immunizations to the top 10 within two years.
- Working toward health-care coverage for all by introducing a
legislative reform package within a year of taking office.
