The Democratic National Convention Committee completed its hiring of top-level positions Wednesday by naming Travis Dredd the deputy chief executive officer for operations at the Pepsi Center.
Dredd is the sixth deputy CEO named to that circle. In the flow chart, each deputy CEO ranks right behind DNCC CEO Leah Daughtry.
In a statement, Daughtry said the hiring of Dredd would allow the convention to be run like "a well-oiled machine."
The convention will be Aug. 25-28, 2008.
"I feel confident we'll put on a spectacular show for Denver and the rest of the world as we nominate the next president of the United States," Dredd said.
Officials with the DNCC picked Dredd because of his experience at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, in Boston, where he was the deputy hall manager, coordinating convention hall activities - including areas of security, construction and production.
Dredd, a former Marine officer, also served as the National Advance Lead for the Kerry-Edwards campaign and as advance director for John Kerry for President.
Earlier in his career, Dredd served as a staff aide to Archbishop Desmond Tutu on his U.S. speaking tour and President Clinton on a humanitarian trip to Rwanda.
