The Democratic National Convention Committee completed its hiring of top level positions this morning by naming Travis Dredd the deputy chief executive officer for operations at the Pepsi Center.
Dredd is the sixth deputy CEO named to that circle. In the flow chart, each deputy CEO ranks right behind DNCC CEO Leah Daughtry.
In a prepared statement, Daughtry said the hiring of Dredd would allow the convention to be run like "a well-oiled machine."
The convention will be Aug. 25-28.
He was en route from Los Angeles at the time of the release and was not available for comment.
Officials with the DNCC picked him because of his experience at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston, where he was the deputy hall manager, coordinating convention hall activities including areas of security, construction and production.
Dredd, a former U.S. Marine officer, also served as the National Advance Lead for the Kerry/Edwards campaign and as Advance Director for John Kerry for President.
Earlier in his career, Dredd served as a staff aide to both Archbishop Desmond Tutu on his U.S. speaking tour and President Bill Clinton on a humanitarian trip to Rwanda.
